Spencer’s in Morro Bay, California, snapped by Mark while he was visiting his parents this weekend. I can’t help thinking this used to be something else. Whatever it was, it looks pretty cool.

Up until 1992 this was a Williams Bros. market ( a local chain of about 20 stores in SB/SLO counties). Williams Bros. was acquired by Vons Companies in 1992 and most stores were converted to Vons Markets by 1994. Then Vons consolidated many of its ‘new’ stores by closing the ‘lower performing’ stores. The facade of this one looks similar to the WB store on South Broad in SLO.

This was a Young’s Giant Food as was the location on Broad Street in SLO. The Morro Bay Williams Bros. was on Quintana.
