I would assume that the Kmart took over adjacent space in addition to the Penn Fruit location, or else this is one really small Kmart. I've seen this photo before and I've always been curious about the history. It's good to get some information.

Shot the photo below in Alexandria VA (where there are still some Roy Rogers units as well) a few weeks ago. I didn't go inside.

There are still Pop Shoppe locations in around North Carolina, particularly around Charlotte, and they seem to somehow be related to the Citgo gas stations there. I've even been to Citgo stations that didn't have Pop Shoppe signs that still featured the name on their receipts.

Unless I've missed the answer somewhere, does anyone known if the DC Safeway International (and the adjacent "regular" Safeway) building is still standing? I can't get a good feel from Google Maps.
