Re: Mervyns

Laguna Hills is now LA Fitness. West Covina Eastland (vacant Mervyns, Circuit City, and Levitz spaces) is being renovated for the inclusion of at least 4 new retailers/restaurants. luckysaver The Eastland site still is in quite chaos! Seems like a lot of movement...yet no progress! Checked the city...

That's a Texaco, but definitely a newer one with the c-store behind the canopy (which is the latest iteration Chevron-style).

Re: The Very First Texaco "System 2000" Stations (1981-1983)

I researched a bit and found this. 1295 Third Ave. in Chula Vista was built as a standard Texaco System 2000 concept complete with car wash. As with many Texaco stations, this eventually was sold to Shell. I still can't find any period photos, but figure this in typical Black & Red and that's it.

This address in Brookfield, CT is listed as "Texaco System 2000" in several listings. It's currently a Shell (which many Texaco stations converted to in the early 2000s). http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safari&rls=en&oe=UTF-8&q=138+Federal+Rd%0ABrookfield,+CT+06804&um=1&...

The Sears Essentals experiment comes to a painful conclusion

Sears Essentials officially drifts into the "History" column... There were 4 Sears Essentials stores in San Diego (Carlsbad, Claremont Mesa, Mission Valley and Spring Valley). The Carlsbad and Claremont Mesa stores are on the list of closures and now the Spring Valley store (probably from ...

The Miracle Center is now completely vacant. The Goodwill finally moved out and moved across the street next to Wally's (former Big Bear). The Goodwill store in the Miracle center used to be a Rexall Drugs. The Miracle Center will be razed, the property brought to street level. Businesses that have ...

Re: 10 Most Unique McDonald's

There's one in Missouri (if I recall) that spans OVER the interstate (40 or 44, I can't recall) we stopped there in 1995, at the time it was the largest in the world, even bigger than the (then-new) Moscow Mickey D's and before the Beijing store. That's actually in Vinita, Oklahoma, over the Will R...

Re: Edmonds, WA: Former Centennial A&P?

That's extremely interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a Centennial out west. AFAIK they never built them in California, opting for more modern appearances. How rare are these centennials out west?
