Re: HACIENDA HEIGHTS CA--Former SMITH'S FOOD KING?

Site has evolved...again!

It is now Fine Living Furniture.

They did a nice job of sprucing up the building and the center.

Candy's Restaurants

Noticed a vacant CANDY'S along the 60 freeway in South El Monte CA.

Been vacant for quite some time.

Assume the entire chain is gone...as I can't find any others online.

Re: Early Kmart closures (PRE-1994)

Not sure when this one closed...yet, noticed it recently: 11060 Magnolia, Riverside CA It was obviously a KMart. It is now the County of Riverside Department of Social Services building. They left the upper edge roofing around the perimeter the same. They even left the brackets that had spelled out ...

Re: Hemet CA

Another swing through Hemet, along Florida/Hwy 74. Truly is a flash to the past...with so many evident/former businesses: Naugles=La Cabana--the first site as you go east. Wienerschnitzl=La Cabana--the 2nd one (address is 2244). Naugles=former site is now Del Taco (towards the end of Florida/74) Chi...

Re: House of Pies Restaurants

I know they were in Los Angeles, Denver and..................? Distinctive high arched roof and sideboxed attached dining area.... I still eat at the House of Pies in Los Feliz (Vermont & Franklin) on a regular basis. Good food and great pies! Just passed this site...it is still pumping out the...

Re: PayLess Drug Stores

Noticed the old commercial on YOU TUBE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGCb6lmQq_4 The Victorville CA site on Palmdale Road had the pharmacy in the same spot. Front left-hand side. The site is currently a huge thrift store...and the pharmacy area is used for displaying electronics! The Colton CA si...

I saw the episode, and enjoyed it. Wow. All those light bulbs @ the NYC site! I'll throw this site into the mix: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46066029@N04/4642883118/ The site is solely utilized for commercial filming. REALLY is in an odd spot. Re: Bashas'

Yes, it opened as a Lucky. It became an ABCO when they bought the AZ Lucky stores in the late 80s. When ABCO went under (along with its then-owner Fleming) in the early 00s Bashas' bought the store Thanks! It is just like walking into the past! Everything is still in the same spot...produce, deli, ...

Re: Blythe CA

The RiteAid, as previously noted, is a former PayLess Drug. I assume built under KMart's ownership...as the store is huge. The stores had become basically smaller KMarts with a pharmacy! The site received the RiteAid color package. After the change, you can tell that they decided to "shrink&quo...

Re: Bashas'

The Bashas' site on Glendale @ 16th in Phoenix...had to have been a Lucky!

Sign on the street, and the interior of the store are the clues!

Yes, a facelift with painting...but the flooring and frig/freezer cases are from the Lucky era!
