Possible former Food Fair/Pantry Pride (also Stop & Shop?)

Post by Ephrata1966 »

What did the HomeGoods in Bedford, New Hampshire used to be? It was in a small supermarket-sized space next to a former JM Fields, which was a Caldor in the 90's. I have no idea what's on this site today though. This Caldor had the 1992 Caldor logo, and the HomeGoods chain started in 1992, which yet also was the year Bradlees separated from Stop & Shop. Many former JM Fields became Bradlees, so I'm thinking maybe this former Pantry Pride?/JM Fields was recycled into a Stop & Shop/Bradlees combination, and eventually the combination of Caldor and HomeGoods.

Also, since Pantry Pride would have closed no later than 1980, and the HomeGoods chain didn't start until 1992, the space most likely was SOMETHING for those 12 years. If not Stop & Shop, could it have been an A&P? Or perhaps a Grand Union? Maybe even a Jewelcor (this chain was a smaller competitor to Service Merchandise that predated that chain), since there was one next to the Bradlees in Pleasantville NJ which opened as the first Bradlees in South Jersey in 1973, and had a Jewelcor as its only immediate neighbor, in the same spot Stop & Shop would have been in areas with their presence?
