A&P Food Market in Brooklyn (my first time in New york)

Post by Jon415 »

Hello, my name is Jon, I live in san francisco california.
in the late 1990's I went to New York with my son,
we were on a subway train heading to Coney Island. The train broke down and we had to exit and I forgot where we were, but I asked a passenger where I could find an ATM machine. She told me the closest one was at an A&P market. I remember after getting out of the train we had to walk down a wooden platform and wooden stairs. I remember walking through a neighborhood with people I was not familiar with (hisidic Jews) sorry if I spelled it wrong. In san francisco, I never seen Men dressed like that and with the long sideburns and beards and hats. But it was an experience I will never forget. So we found the store and the ATM. Now I am trying to find the address or street we were on back then. Does anyone know?
Thanks

There are no more A&P's in New York City (most of them were renamed to their Waldbaum's brand, 1 in Brooklyn is now Food Basics, an A&P concept store). I'd go from there.
