Remember those vinyl strips?

Post by enginecapt »

That were once popular? They'd put them on the front of the frozen food freezers instead of doors. I first saw them at a brand new Fazio's in Mission Viejo, CA back in the mid-seventies. Somewhere along the line they disappeared. They were supposed to be The Next Great Thing in shopping convenience. I assume they didn't prove to be as energy efficient as initially promised.

I had a friend that worked at Thrifty Drug and they had to put those over the beer cooler sometime in the mid 90's. Customers didn't like them, they got really dirty fairly quick so after 4 or 5 months of them being there the manager just threw them away.

Actually, they were common during the first "energy crisdi" in the 70s, but ultimately gave way to doors.
