Stockton-1861 Pacific Ave.-Safeway-Photos from 1940s or '50s

Post by Jason B. »

Photos of the Safeway store that operated at 1861 Pacific Avenue in Stockton in the 1940s and '50s are posted on this webpage:
http://www.wrightrealtors.com/stockton/miracle_mile.htm

The webpage has an interesting history of Pacific Avenue as Stockton's "Miracle Mile" commercial district in the years after World War II. This is an impressive, building-by-building historical tour of Stockton's Pacific Avenue commercial district.

See also on this webpage: "1910 Pacific Ave - Former Piggly Wiggly " (with photos of exterior of Piggly Wiggly). Webpage also refers to "Scaggs Safeway #288 (1931)" around 1901 Pacific Avenue, which very likely refers to a "Skaggs Safeway" store.
