Bucks Crossing/Bucks County Mall

Can anyone give me the history of the shopping center at 97E Street Rd in Feasterville PA? Right now it is a shopping center with a TJ Maxx, Acme, Petco, Five Below, Staples, Michael's, Dollar Tree, etc. I know it used to be a mall called Bucks County Mall. I am wondering if it was ever a Korvettes or S Klein before that. One end is two stories, the other end is one story, and that was typical of Korvettes. The TJ Maxx looks like it could have been an A & P at one time.

The reason I am asking, is because Petco tore up the floor tile to have a concrete floor, and underneath the floor leveler were bricks, patio blocks, and the composite floor that was used in old department stores.

Looking at historicaerials.com, the A&P (currently TJ Maxx) was the first building on the property, in 1965. The mall area opened next to it in 1967, and the department store anchor (now Staples/ Michael's) opened around 1971 as Gaylord's, a department store chain that had stores in DE and northeast PA. Gaylord's became Clover at some point in the 70s, then Value City from 1997 to 2009.

Acme was originally around the corner in what's now David's Bridal, technically a separate shopping center called "Bucks Center". Around 1996-97 the mall was de-malled; Acme took up the mall entrance/ middle area, and the Thrift Drug inside the mall relocated to the front left corner as an Eckerd (then closed in 2000). Petco also takes up former mall space; the former Fashion Bug (now Five Below, which relocated from across the street near Gamestop) may have been a relocation from inside the mall like Eckerd was, or even in the same location, with the entrance flipped to the front. A&P was gone by the Super Fresh days in 1982, so it's most likely been a TJ Maxx for a while now.

The former Centennial A&P/Super Fresh at Gateway Shopping Center in Devon-Berwyn also is home to a TJ Maxx. Sadly, the whole center was remodeled last year, and the TJ Maxx was remodeled to hide its Centennial A&P features. That might actually be the only example I know of where a Centennial A&P building had an exterior remodel to completely hide its A&P past. I sure hope they leave the Feasterville A&P/TJ Maxx alone.
