Greensboro Chain Grocery/Supermarket Locations, 1910-2015

This is a list of all known chain grocery addresses in Greensboro between 1910 and 2015, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. Although some suburban locations may be included, it is not meant to cover all suburban stores in the area. It is generated through a live Google Spreadsheet so it reflects the latest information I have.

View and download a copy of this location spreadsheet via Google Sheets.

Notes:

  • The city directories from 2000 do not reflect the 1999 Kroger/Harris Teeter store swap, which occurred in June of that year.
  • There may be missing and inaccurate locations from the Bi-Rite co-op.

Store tags:

  • A&P
  • Big Bear/Food World
  • Bi-Lo
  • Bi-Rite/Bestway/FoodRite
  • Food Town/Food Lion
  • Fresh Market
  • Harris Teeter
  • Kroger
  • Penders/Big Star/Colonial
  • Piggly Wiggly
  • Winn-Dixie

I would like to know when the A&P that became Fleet-Plummer opened and closed.
Thank you for providing all of this information.
