Now that I have the shell of the new site done, I’m in the process of adding new content. Most of that, for now, is going to be photos, because I have too much other stuff going on right now to concentrate on writing. Look for the beginnings of my Pittsburgh section soon (Ive completed the preliminary address list) and maybe that new history of Safeway one of these days.
Today, though, I have added nice new flickr-generated photo galleries for the following:
I’m going to rework and update the old galleries like these (lots of new photos involved) first and then start adding new galleries.

November 22, 2009 at 8:15pmI noticed the Los Angeles library website has a number of old supermarket photos online now- just enter search term such as safeway, supermarket etc in the photo search and you can see grand opening photos of stores from the 40’s etc Site is at: “photos.lapl.org”

December 10, 2009 at 3:57pmDo you have any additional information or photos for Emil Hagtrom’s stores, Hagstrom Food Stores? He built several stores around 1930 in the the Bay Area, Lafayete, Okland, Pleasanton, Livermore
