Re: DIAMOND BAR CA

Oak Tree Lanes near Diamond Bar and Temple was most likely a former supermarket because of its supermarket style exterior architecture. What occupied the bowling alley before? While this particular one may have been a supermarket in the past, my experience is that purpose-built older bowling alleys...

They've been discussed extensively in other threads:

I seem to remember that Piece Goods Shop was based in Winston-Salem. It was, and was initially owned by these two crazy brothers who also owned a TV station here. I wasn't aware of the Hancock relationship, although we do have Hancock stores (and no more Piece Goods) now. Perhaps Hancock bought out...

Speaking of Cost Cutter, that was the generic brand used at Kroger's Market Basket stores in Socal. I have a bottle of Kroger Cost Cutter wine which I think may still be with some stuff I have stored at my parents' house. If I can get over there tomorrow, I'll post a picture. I always thought the i...

I think anything Scotch brand is owned and trademarked by 3M. I never saw a Ralphs generic line but the closest might be Mountain Dairy, which is all Kroger-bannered stores. The closest Albertsons has is their Good Day products. Stores that are supplied by Certified/Unified use Special Value. Super...

I went antique shopping the other day and I bought a few Ann Page Spice tins marketed by The great A&P tea company. I don't Know if A&P still sells this brand or not. A&P eliminated all their well-known house brand names several years ago in favor of the rather uninspiring America's Cho...

Those are cool, but I was actually more interested in ones in use at stores that are no longer Kroger. Sorry. I misread your subject. I can't find any photos in my collection, but I seem to remember seeing a few recycled cubes, maybe in Columbus or elsewhere in central Ohio. I think one may have be...

Actually, Western Auto is not really a department store, but more of a auto parts/hardware store.

Interesting Older Dominion/A&P Locations in Toronto

Carry-over from another thread: One store I'd recommend visiting is this Dominion in Mississauga (western Toronto suburb). It's one of the few A&P/Dominions left that still has a parcel pickup. Here's a couple of pics I've taken of it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/78111739@N00/324452982/in/set-7...
