Now the plan is to move the WorkSource employment offices to this building: http://www.tdn.com/articles/2006/09/13/area_news/news05.txt I did some digging and found a link to a photo of this store right on this website. The store currently is called Not Too Shabby, and has a couple pieces of plywood...

The PayLess that opened near my former home in Vancouver, Washington in the mid-90s did not have that interior, but the pharmacy was at the front, just to the right of the doors as you walk in. It also did not have diagonal aisles, but was considerably smaller than the nearby large PayLess it replac...

The building has been sold and will become state offices instead of a library. The city of Kelso received a higher offer shortly after purchasing it.

The Hazel Dell Fred Meyer used to have a neon sign until it became a Fred Meyer Marketplace store. There are others scattered around Portland that have done away with the neon, but the Burlingame store still has their sign.

It is located on S. Pacific Avenue, next to Kelso City Hall. Follow Allen Street west from the mall, and veer right just before the Cowlitz River Bridge, then turn left on Pacific. You can't miss it.

Former Marina Safeway in Kelso, WA

The 1960's era former Marina Safeway in Kelso which currently houses a thrift store, was recently sold to the city of Kelso. They had plans to turn it into a library, but now a higher offer has surfaced and it may become state offices. The inside of this store is mostly intact, with the original bro...

The two Fred Meyer Marketplace stores in Vancouver, WA started life as ful-line traditional Fred Meyer stores. Worth noting is that they had two seperate buildings, with one housing the home improvement & garden center, the other had everything else. When they became Marketplace stores they drop...

I guess I meant to ask: Did Fred Meyer ever build a NEW store from the ground up which was a Marketplace and not a conventional Fred Meyer store? I remember Stock Market Foods. They built a brand new store in Longview, Washington around 89 or 90. They were open about a year or year and a half before...

Fred Meyer Marketplaces

In Oregon and Washington, there are several Fred Meyer Marketplace (basically a Fred Meyer without a clothing section) stores. All of the ones I have seen were at one time conventional Fred Meyer stores. Did Fred Meyer ever open a new marketplace style store, or are all of the marketplace stores con...

The store I remember the most was the one in Sandusky, which used to be an Ontario store. It had a building that had an opening in a side wall right at the front so you could walk to the Pick-N-Pay grocery store next door without going outside.

Rink's

I remember this store as a kid in Ohio, it was much like a K-Mart. There were a few around Toledo and Sandusky. How big was this chain and when did it go away?

I seem to remember a few locations in Ohio in the early 80s that were branded "Woolworth-Woolco" and had that signage on the buildings, but the stores were MUCH smaller than a typical Kmart.
