I also recall a Hills being on Middle Country road in selden, Selden Thrift, which is the major store of this shopping center used to be a hills if I remember. Its located on the south side of Middle Country across from RiteAid (can't miss it). I am not 100% sure on this, can someone confirm? There ...

Re: New York area: Waldbaums (Safeway?)

That pathmark with the round roof (right next door to kassina farms which was safeway) has just closed for good. They have a lease with the owner till 2019 but if they cannot find someone to sub lease it too, it will stay empty till then.

Re: Oldest Operating A&P

In holbrook ny, there is an OLD ap that operates under its waldbuams banner now. This store maybe only had minor renovation work done to it. The floor is OLD and the shelfs are even older. The cases in some of the aisles look old , probably AP days as well. It's deli is up in the front of the store,...

Re: Super Fresh-does it still exist?

a&p is in the process of changing most of the pathmark supercenters into Sav-A-Centers, and revamping most of its pathmark philly division. Lots of renovations, which most are very long over due. SuperFresh is one of A&P's fresh gourmet banners. Same with waldbaums, AP, SuperFresh, Food Emp,...

Re:

God, Plus! Talk about atrophied memories. This store is something I wouldn't have remembered on my own for a million years, but now that someone mentioned it, I can see the logo in my head. (No sign of it on the web, though.) As I recall, it was a blocky, san-serif wide font, with the P larger than...

Safeway Long Island (NY)

Ever operation on the Long Island area? There is a building in my town the looks like an early 50's safeway with the round roof and the really tall piller next to the main entrance. Is it a possible safeway? http://www.groceteria.com/journal/graphics7/101507-wheaton.jpg It looks like that building.

I know the store you are talking about. My grandparents live a few blocks away, and I've been in there a few times. Also, that pathmark next door was a waldbuams as well as a few others threw the years. There's also another store of the same style with a rounded roof and is still a waldbuams. It's o...

I lived in Queens, NY from 1980 to 1986 and I remember King Kullen had many stores in the Flushing area. My mother worked for King Kullen as a cashier for a few months. She worked a King Kullen on 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights. There were at least two King Kullen markets along Northern Blvd in Flu...
