Re: Edison Park Grocery Store Chicago Il.

Huum. Never heard the term "Magic Carpet doors" before.

BTW, the doors were electric, and I do remember the enterance being on the street, though the out door faced the parking lot.

I assume the parking lot was always the same size because there's a street just to the right of it.

Edison Park Grocery Store Chicago Il.

It's an old post WWII store, currently it's a "Happy Fooods" location which had a few others in the area. Before that it was called, Edison Park Foods", and who sit could of been something else earlier. What interesting about this market is I remember being in there when I was younger...

Re: Current Events Forum

Here's what I wonder. Why would anyone join this board to talk about current events knowing what this board is really about? Also it amazes me how when it comes to the past, reguardless of what the subject is. I've beena member of many message boards, including nostalgic sites, which are either rare...

Dominick's Park Ridge Il.

Though it doesn't say just being a resident I'm pretty sure this is the old Dempster & Greenwood location and the only one that I knew of where the cursive writing was red.

Re: Old Burger King Restaurant in Naperville IL.

I did a Google Maps search and found three or four Burger Kings with Naperville addresses. Do you have the specific address of the one you're referring to? If the design is how I think it is, I'd REALLY like to get pictures. OK I just checked out Mapquest.com and this old BK restaurant would have t...

Old Burger King Restaurant in Naperville IL.

Which is a far west suburb in Chicago.

It's probably built similar to the old McDonalds and they have these 2 red things which I wouldn't call arches since they're round like the golden arches.

Wonder how many of these old BK restaurants still exist?

I'm not suprised. It seems like Dominick's and Jewel don't see fit to keep these smaller stores open. Years ago there was a Dominick's on Central Ave. Between Deversey & Fullerton Aves and it's still a supermarket though it's called something else and I've heard of other examples where these sto...

I'm wondering now if this could of been a Dominick's. There's one up Milwaukee Ave at Devon and Nagle with was recently remodled and there's this sign inside the store saying '' Seving Chicago since 1950, probably referring to the imediate neighborhood since the chain has existed longer than that. T...

I ask this once before but have since forgot.

Where was exactly was their 1st Supermarket on North Ave? Like what was the nearest cross street?

Of course Dominick's started as a meast market on W. Ohio St. in 1918 but the North Ave location was I believe there first supermarket.
