So true!

Now, at the other end was May Company, correct? Taller building with big 'ol hanging/swooping lights, correct?!

Does it still look the same?! Macy*s now?

I never stepped foot into that mall...yet, drove by it for years...primarily going down the 605 to the beach in the summer!

Thanks!
IIRC, the mall was flanked by Robinson's, Sears, Nordstroms and The Broadway. Macy's was The Broadway store, and I believe the new Nordstroms site is the old Robinson's, and the current Nordstroms has been there since 1981. Los Cerritos Center never had a May Company store.

May Co., Robinsons, Broadway, Macy*s...they all tend to blend together with the mergers!

Does the old Broadway turned Macy*s still look the same?

thanks!

Hmmm, according to the Bing Maps view, it does, but I'm not sure how old the image is, and I haven't been up to Cerritos in years :)

I was on the 605 last night and drove by the new ugly remodel Forever 21 did on the Ohrbachs store. Wow I'm shocked how bad it looks. I miss the old look already.

Los Cerritos never had a full-line May Co, but when the mall first opened, they had the one and only May Co Fashion Place, featuring mostly junior's and young women's clothing. IMHO the opened this store to try to get some of the teen traffic that they knew was going to abandon Lakewood in favor of the newer, flashier Los Cerritos, 3 miles away. I have no idea how long The Fashion Place lasted, but I remember it being about 20,000 square feet, and being in-line, not freestanding

Interesting... do you remember if the store had exterior access? Currently (or last I could tell from Bing Maps) The Limited store had an exterior access, AFAIK, the only inline store (spare the restaurants) to have an entrance on the exterior of the building... (it's the one with the ovular walled area to the right of Macy's. I onlu point this out since this seems to be an oddity of sorts, and the May Company Fashion Place store would have also been such an oddity... if that makes any sense

I went to the Cerritos Mall on Friday. Here's what I can add:

The old OHRBACHS store is way changed. They completely gutted it and painted over the purple tile on the sides of the building but only put up a fake facade from the looks of it. They did change the entry. They removed the original escalators from near the mall entry and put a staircase there to go up. They placed the escalators now near the outside entry.

As for the MAY COMPANY FASHION store. The other location it may have been could be where the food court is now. This area has the identical entry as the LIMITED store, and has an area that looks like it could have been a loading dock at one point (which would make sense). Plus the store comes out further than the rest of the mall.

Looking at a 1972 HISTORIC AERIAL this area mentioned above has the rounded entry, while the area near the limited looks like it was added on later.

Having this mini anchor on that wing of the mall would make sense too, as it would have given the mall 4 main anchors with 3 mini anchors (Woolworths by The Broadway, The UA 3 plex in the mall by the Robinsons, and possibly the May Co Fashion store by SEARS and OHRBACHS)

Oh, and they are repainting the old Broadway store right now...same color, just giving it a fresh look.

Noticed that the side (at least the north side) of the Ohrbach's building still has the exposed rounded upper edges.
