Bullocks Wilshire
Posted: 18 Nov 2008 19:17
LA Conservancy is planning a fundraiser event at the campus of Southwestern Law School, better known as Bullocks Wilshire. The cost is at least $300/person and is a rare opportunity to take an architectural look at the historic Bullocks Wilshire and I think it includes a walk through of parts of the library, which occupies sections of former Bullocks departments. Silent Auction Pre-Bidding Through
Wednesday, November 19
Join the Conservancy for a singular opportunity to revisit the Bullocks Wilshire experience as we celebrate thirty years of historic preservation in Los Angeles. If you can't attend the gala, you can still participate in our silent auction by bidding online before 5 p.m. PST on Wednesday, November 19.
Saturday, November 22, 2008
Cocktail reception 6-9 p.m.
Dinner in the former penthouse Tea Room 8:30-10:30 p.m.*
Opened in 1929, the elegant Art Deco Bullocks Wilshire department store quickly became the city’s premier shopping destination for generations of Angelenos. After the store closed in 1993, the building's fate hung in the balance until neighboring Southwestern Law School purchased it for campus expansion, painstakingly restoring the building's historic elements and adapting it for state-of-the-art academic use. The project exemplifies preservation at its finest, earning the Conservancy’s esteemed President’s Award in 2005.

Dine on hors d’oeuvres inspired by the original Bullocks Wilshire Tea Room menu.
Admire the vintage fashions modeled by live mannequins.
