Boston-based Filene's Basement has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the second time since 2000 and it will never be the same chain again:

Men's Wearhouse has purchased Filene's Basement in a bidding war. The Filene's Basement brand will live on:

I'm behind on updating so, for anyone interested, the bidding process for Filene's Basement was re-opened; Men's Wearhouse was dropped, and Sym's ("Where an educated consumer is our best customer") is the new winner/owner of Filene's Basement:
