Port Plaza Mall, downtown Green Bay, Wisconsin

Post by ShopKoFan » 01 Nov 2009 23:46

Built in 1977 as an urban renewal project for a struggling downtown in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Port Plaza Mall was home to approximately 100 stores, and anchored by JCPenney and H.C. Prange Co. Department Store. The mall was expanded in 1981, to accommodate a food court featuring a McDonald's, Sbarro, Arby's and Taco Bell, thus, removing a small portion of Washington Street that went underneath a skywalk connecting the mall to Prange's. The expansion also gave the mall its third anchor, Boston Store, as well as a few additional stores. The historic Kaap's Restaurant had to be demolished to accommodate the expansion. The Port Plaza Mall was a major shopping destination in Green Bay, Wisconsin for three generations.
