Sparks, NV. 1978 opened as Skaggs, then converted to Osco, then converted to Sav-On around 1997. Interior remains as Sav-On left it (just not stocked).

this is how all the former sav-ons in las vegas looked when CVS was taking them over...a random white banner with CVS on them, it took them a long time to remodel the stores...and when they had CVS on the building at first, most of them were still Sav-ons on the inside...

There is one here in Reno that they didn't remodel much. They repainted the walls and put up department signs just for pharmacy, photo, and I think cosmetics. The walls look pretty spartan. They did not install carpet. They kept a single checkstand up front (but removed the other two). They put up a new CVS sign out at the street, but never did install a CVS sign on the building. Still, they have no CVS sign on the building, just banners around all 4 sides of the building.

The store sort of sits on the edge of a hill and you can see the back and one side real well from I-80. Kind of an eyesore. Maybe "kind of" is being generous.

Here is the corner that you see from 80 before they took over:

The Diamond Bar CVS (Diamond Bar Blvd south the 60 Freeway, large size for a drug store) opened as Payless Drug in 1970. It became a Savon Home Center/Savon Drugs in 1984 after Savon's parent Jewel Companies bought out some Payless stores in SoCal (others went to Kmart Corporation). This location was remodeled by Albertsons in 2005 and very prominently showed its Albertsons ownership with similar departments to the supermarket, Albertsons programs, similar employee uniforms, and the convenience grocery/liquor department aptly named "Albertsons Food Mart". When CVS took over in late 2006, they remodeled the store to CVS specifications (Health n Home Department was renamed CVS Home Health Center). Earlier this year, CVS opened a Minute Clinic (urgent care doctor's office). The exterior is exactly the same from 1970 - only the signage has changed over the years.

The Sav-On in Carson City had that Albertsons Food Center inside. That Sav-On was built around 2001 by Albertsons to replace what had been an unremodeled since the mid 80s former Skaggs on the same lot. It was little more than the food offering that ASC offered in the store, but it had an Albertsons logo on the wall and also had the Albertsons logo on each cooler door. CVS quickly stacked many rolls of paper towels atop the cooler to block the Albertsons logo out until the store got remodeled.

The Albertson's Food Mart was in most newer Sav-on stores in SoCal. Ours had one, and once it became CVS, it stayed until they remodeled the whole store about a month later.
