This is a list of all known chaingrocery addresses in the Orlando area between 1925 and 2010, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections. Please read about my methodology for more information about what I do and do not include.
View and download a copy of this location spreadsheet via Google Sheets.
Notes:
- As usual, listings from the 1990s on are slightly less certain than in earlier years due to data sources. Dates after 2000 sourced from telephone directories rather than city directories.
- Kash n’ Karry was never terribly strong in Orlando and exited the market before the Sweetbay conversion.

July 19, 2020 at 11:30pmDon’t forget the Dr. Phillips Marketplace had the Gooding’s Flagship which was turned into Winn-Dixie in 99/00. Winn Dixie moved to Lake Buena Vista in 2002.

January 15, 2025 at 8:51pmI’m trying to locate the Piggy Wiggly that was used in the opening scenes of Problem Child 2. The Piggly Wiggly was located behind a Twistee Treat, in the same parking lot. Filming took place in early 1991. Any idea of the location?

January 16, 2025 at 8:44pmMy research above shows two locations open in Orlando about that time (Lee Road and Lake Underhill Road). Either of those, maybe? I’ve never seen the movie and I’m not hugely familiar with Orlando so that’s about the best I can do.

January 16, 2025 at 9:40pmReview on this page about a location on Maguire Road in Ocoee, Florida:
Back then it was a little closer to the corner of the parking lot by Colonial. The anchor store of the plaza was a Piggly Wiggly the only grocery store for miles.
