This is a list of all chain grocery locations my research has uncovered in Schenectady, Scotia, Rotterdam, and Niskayuna between 1925 and 2000, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. This list is INCOMPLETE as there are numerous missing data sources from this area, particularly from the 1950s on. Many thanks are due to the helpful librarians of the Schenectady County Public Library. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections. Please read about my methodology for more information about what I do and do not include.
