This is a list of all chain grocery locations my research has uncovered in Hartford’s eastern suburbs between 1930 and 1977 compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections. Please read about my methodology for more information about what I do and do not include.

Notes:
- I have found that the Google Maps links do not work well due to the street names that repeat in so many suburbs; even addresses that are correct and current sometimes display incorrectly. Main Street and Farmington Avenue are particularly problematic. I cannot fix this. I am sorry.
- Two separate chains bearing the “Economy” name operated in Hartford; one became First National and the other became Stop & Shop.

However, I’ll add to your list. 4 Main Street in East Hartford was Andy’s Supermarket, from 1971 to 2000, then Shaw and now it is a ShopRite! 1150 Burnside Avenue from 1968 to 1999 was Top Notch Supermarket. 307 Main Street after Popular went out, it became a Frank’s. Ellington Road East Hartford had a First National. Not sure of the address. The Food Mart on Main St East Hartford became Greenfield’s as of 1977.
