This is a list of all chain grocery locations my research has uncovered in Port Huron between 1925 and 1992 (plus 2019), compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections. Please read about my methodology for more information about what I do and do not include.

Notes:

• Many directories prior to 1946 did not list individual chain locations.
• I suspect there may have been some relationship between the two “Smith” chains in the 1920s and 1930s, but I am not certain. There was a small amount of store overlap. Also, both appear to have offered mobile shopping services, branded as “Mototeria” (the brand name of these trucks) at Smith Bros. and as “Store at Your Door” at H.A. Smith.
