Re: Former Arby's locations
One of the Arby's in Hemet, CA recently closed after being open for about 20 years. http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&q=arbys+hemet&fb=1&gl=us&hq=arbys&hnear=Hemet,+Riverside,+California&ei=redFTLHmHoe6sQO1tNDFAg&ved=0CBsQtgMwAA&ll=33.759205,-116.944528&spn=0,0....

Kragen Auto Parts/Former Thrifty; San Pedro
I was just watching KABC7 Storm Coverage, and they reported that a Kragen Auto Parts store at 842 S Pacific Ave in San Pedro had much of it's stucco facade fall off from the amount of rain that had saturated into it. Revealed is a nearly perfect Thrifty drug sign, which appears to be painted onto th...

Re: Vons stores with old interiors
The Hemet, CA Vons had the same "face lift" interior for about 3 or 4 years (maybe less) before getting the Lifestyle treatment in 2002-2003. The exterior was altered during both remodels, with the entry points moved both times. I always thought it was odd that it was remodeled so quickly....

Re: Vintage Supermarkets in Movies and TV (Old Ones Only Please)
I don't know how vintage this may be, but in the movie "Funny People", Seth Rogan's character works at a deli in an independent supermarket... which happens to be a former So-cal Smith's location from the early 1990's. The deli area looks a bit different than your typical Smiths of this er...

Re: Hemet CA
Wanted to chime in here as I've been very intrigued with Hemet's retail history. I'm not sure if others exist, but the former Thrifty (later Rite Aid) at the Ramona Plaza was an interesting store. I actually made it a point to visit this strip mall after I came across this old postcard (see below) ...

Re: Which chain once occupied these identical buildings?
I was wondering if the Coco's across from the Plaza once had a Reuben's in the basement.. I used to eat at the location a lot when my grandfather worked down the street. Did the Coco's near the Tyler Mall have a Reuben's downstairs also? I wonder what the reasoning behind getting rid of the Reuben's...

Re: Which chain once occupied these identical buildings?
Thanks guys! From reading Wiki, it looks like Coco's owned Reuben's and ultimatly rebranded most of them Coco's in the 1980's. It would make sense that they used the design for both chains. I now seem to remember that the Coco's in Carlsbad, CA near Plaza Camino Real had a Reuben's in it's basement....

Which chain once occupied these identical buildings?
I've noticed a few of these buildings around Southern California and I was told it was once a chain of steakhouses... but I am not sure.. Does anyone have any idea? The buildings are pretty much identical, these are the only three I could remember off hand, but I am sure there are others out there. ...

Re: Hemet CA
Was through this area over the weekend. Funny how many "doubles" are on the highway...a couple locations each of chains such as Staters, Jack in the Box (brand new location with NEW graphics), Carl's Jr., KFC, and I am sure others. Noticed the vacant Gottschalks. Can still see the labelsc...

This is a funny commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPltz2fu4GA&feature=related Is the building shown an old Broadway? Looks similar to the Puente Hills and Carson CA former Broadway locations. It's the former Weinstock's (sister store of The Broadway) at Fresno's Fashion Fair mall. Desi...
