Colonial Big Stars (Post 1960's-before A&P takeover)
I love all of the old pictures of the old Colonial/ Big Star food markets from the 50's and 60's. But I'm puzzled i've not seen any pics of (post 1960's) stores that they had, before they became A&P's. Also does anyone know/have any pics/ads of what the old Big Star logo looked like, both in the...

Re: Hill's? Hill's-Korvette

They were large stores and the one at Cederbrook Mall that Food Fair made into a Pantry Pride was the busiest and most successful store in the divisi...

Food Fair/Pantry Pride: How did they fall (esp in Phila)
This subject has proababy been thrown around before, but I'm still unsure what caused Food Fair's initial 1978 bankruptcy, and it's sudden exodus from its' Philadephia "home" division It seems that they were doing everything right, l mean according to the penn fruit article on the site, PP...

Food Fair Pantry Pride in Tampa?
I know that the Food Fair/ Pantry Pride chain was big in Florida especially around Miami and Ft. Lauderdale but i'm wondering if the chain at any time had any stores in the Tampa area?

Once again a bit off, but I recall seeing a photo of a pre-supermarket style LS Ayres grocery store in downtown Cincinnati, 1920's vintage, in a book about Cincy history. Also read an article that suggested that had Federated kept Gold Circle, Richway, etc. they would be today's Walmart. Yeah But F...

IGA "O&O's" in Philadelphia (post Penn Fruit)
I had read the aricle on the demise of the Penn Fruit stores in philadelphia and I had heard on a local show called the "Irv Homer Show" that some of the former PF stores became O&O's ( IGA stores owned and operated by store employees) and were supplied by a local IGA wholesaler (Wette...
