I drive by it everyday. Its been the brooklyn-ford market for all i can remember. It was remodeled in the 90s around the time they renamed Brooklyn. This area of LA back in the 40's used to be a largely Jewish neighborhood before they moved to the Fairfax district.

Sav-On in montebello. They have a new store in the same parking lot. The old Ralphs-Sav-on combo store is to be torn down and replaced. The Ralphs still has the old decor.

Old Ralphs interiors.

The local Sav-on Drugs near me closes in a few days. It used to be in the same store as a Ralphs (Ralphs was one side, and the other side Sav-On, only the checkout stands seperated the stores). Today, looking in, they removed one of the wood panels covering the old Ralphs (which closed around 1997) ...

Vons in Montebello is style #1.

Vons in Alhambra, which I havent been to in years, was none of the above. It was a former Crawfords Corner market that I have to assume they have remodeled. Its a very large market by comparison to others.

But a lot better than the white and red scheme.

I have seen a few Vons stores with the new interior seen in the 3rd pic.

Loews Theatres 1905-2006 (AMC, GCC, etc.)

Loews Theatres will cease operations as of January 26th, according to several sources. All Loews will be changed to AMC Theatres over the next few months.

Another theatre chain of years gone by is now history itself..

Re: Safeway logos

A Safeway near my home recently remodeled and has an updated "S" logo where the S is white and the squared area is red, almost a reversal of the previous logo. The Safeway letters are now black, and backlit with white at night. What year did Safeway switch from the round S to the square S...

There is one Greatland in Fullerton down here, and one Regular Target that just opened in Whittier, that both have the same interior floor plan, both have two enterances. The only difference is that Whitter's new store has no Greatland designation. But same layout, same food areas, pharmacy, etc... ...

This looks exactly like the interiors to Max Foods. The three stores that I have been to (one actually closed a while back) all have the same flair, but they had ceiling tiles. The only difference is that Grocery Warehouse/Max Foods down here have white lettering in the red and yellow stripe to desi...

Wasnt the name meant to originally tell people that the store was open from 7 to 11 everyday?

Also, there is one location near my house that is not open 24 hours, but closes daily at midnight and reopens at 5am.

around here, it seems that 7-11's close and are built right next to the old one. The older locations are taken over by another market it seems.

Hmm, they had a Newberry's in the Center as well from the beginning. The Newberry's even had a sandwich counter till the store closed in the mid 90's. I find it funny that they would be almost literally next to each other in the same center.

They are non-existant in Quebec and Ottawa that I saw. Maybe they are only in western Canada. I stopped at one in Burnaby two years ago to get toiletries, and they are smaller than the US counterparts, but had the same interior as a US store. http://shop.safeway.com/superstore/default.asp?brandid=1&...
