Re: BULLOCKS--Southern California

Noticed an old ad for Bullock's, and it was Bullock*s, with the current Macy*s star/asterisk as the apostrophe. Guess I never noticed that before. Were there any other affiliated chains that they used the * as well? Found the following picture after the Northridge earthquake: http://www.google.com/i...

Re: Vons and Jensens, Palm Desert, CA

VONS/Safeway is attempting to move their Palm Desert location to the vacant Mervyn's down the street. It was listed in the local paper that it is going to the Planning Commission. Comically, the current site (which this thread began) was completely LIFESTYLED. Now...potentially moving! Further down ...

Re: Sprouse Reitz

The remnants of what I thought was a Sprouse Reitz. You can see the old patio area where whatever it was sold plants outside. Did Gilberts carry plants? Maybe it was Gilberts before SR? This is located on the North West corner of Gale and Hacienda. I think there was a Thriftimart on the south east ...

Re: Big Lots

Noticed the former Pico Rivera CA site on Beverly Boulevard. The site was demolished...yet, the sign is still on the street...painted over in black paint. I recall this had been Pic-N-Save. Believe it had been Smith's Food King prior. Jeff?! Yep. It was closed and demolished for a new shopping cent...

Re: Sprouse Reitz

I remember one in Chino on the southwest corner of Central and Walnut in the 80's. It is now divided up into several shops. I seem to remember one in the City of Industry at Hacienda and Gale. I'd appreciate any feedback on the accuracy of this. In the City of Industry...I believe you are thinking ...

Noticed too with the VONS radio commercials...at the end...they simply say, "Also 100s of sale items at Pavilions"

Re: Naugles Mexican Restaurants

Was there a Naugles in San Bernardino in addition to Redlands? When I was attending Cal State, San Bernardino back in 1977-79, a group of us from Waterman dorm would go to the Naugles in town for the macho burritos! It was the best relief of the "munchies" after a night of partying. I was...

Re: Just to clarify the "Pavilions Place" name

I went to a Pavilions a couple years ago in, I don't remember, Thousand Oaks or something. There was a Fresh & Easy across the street. Anyway I was very underwhelmed by the place. It was no different at all than a standard average lifestyle Safeway other than having a different layout. I say &q...

Re: Levitz Furniture

Noticed the former Levitz along the 105 Fwy, near LAX. Signage STILL on the building...as nothing has ever changed! The Industry store has signage on the building as well. The former Toys R Us / Levitz in Rosemead has been converted and opened a few weeks ago as a UFC Gym. Yup! Literally drove by t...

Also noticed that the Big Bear CA Rite Aid, also former Thrifty has closed.

Site had received Rite Aid remodel...unlike the Huntington Beach location.
