Re: Former IHOP locations
Found this while looking for something else in the Google Books Life Magazine archives. It's a list of all IHOP locations in 1967. http://groceteria.com/forboard/ihop-1967.jpg Well, as far as the Michigan locations listed go... Detroit - Still standing, now some type of Lunch Buffet. The roof is no...

Re: Sambo's Restaurant Locations in California
Seven years ago (when I was last there) there was a beautifully preserved one on Aurora Avenue in Seattle operating as the Aurora Restaurant. I heard somewhere it had closed, but I don't know for sure. Its interior seemed pretty much original. Doing a quick google search, its now Aurora Rents. They...

Re: Montgomery Ward 1970s signage
Yes. The San Bernardino's Carousel Mall store had, er still has, that Logo on it. Here is what that store looks like today . The logo was unaltered till about a few years ago when they finally painted over it. Here is the logo on the North Side of the Store: http://www.rapidtransit-press.com/socalma...

Re: Early Kmart closures
Kmart Rosemead was located at the corner of San Gabriel Blvd and Garvey Ave. It opened in the late 70's, and closed in the late 80's maybe early 90's. A very short life for the store. It was converted to a Builders Square which only lasted a few years. It sat empty for years and then was converted t...

Re: Coco's returns to it's classic logo
I drove by the Brea Coco's on Imperial and the 57, and they already changed to the old logo.
On a side note, the former COCO's in Anaheim Hills has been closed since the beginning of summer, and they still have their signs up on the building.

Re: MONTGOMERY WARDS STILL ALIVE
As far as I can tell, the Rosemead Target was also a complete teardown/rebuild of the Wards. And the one in Covina (across from Eastland, which is in West Covina) was torn down and the location now houses an IKEA (relocated from Puente Hills--the former STOR.) The Wards in Country Club Centre in Sa...

And kept the Community since 1929 all over the place which is weird.Dean wrote:Yes, that is the former THRIFTY package.
Funny thing...many RiteAids still had this interior. They simply ripped the Thrifty logo off the wall, and left it looking horrible!

Re: Naugles Mexican Restaurants
Those I thought were Del Taco designed stores. The location on Wilcox in Montebello looks like that but it was to my knowledge always a Del Taco. I remember a Naugles in Rosemead (torn down about 10 years ago) and in Alhambra (currently a Starbucks on Atlantic). They had a slightly different design....
