Re: Boise ID
That store on the site of the original Albertsons got that remodel probably seven or eight years ago. It was previously a blue-gray. I believe that store was built in the 1980s, so the blue-gray was probably the first remodel. That was one of the best remodels Albertsons has done -- it fit the area ...

Re: Boise ID
I don't think there were that many Safeways in Boise, at least not when they divested the market. There was one at Vista and Overland that Albertsons bought, but they built a new store in the parking lot and demolished the old one roughly six years ago. There is the marina store on State across from...

Re: Boise ID
Hi Storewanderer, Here are a few sites that you might find interesting. I need to note that I haven't lived in Boise for four years so some of this information could easily have changed. 1. On State Street near 17th in Boise is an old marina Safeway that is now a Rite Aid. It has received a few touc...

Re: Marina Safeway in Montana - anyone know which town?
I'm almost positive that is the store in Hamilton, which is south of Missoula. The only Montana Safeways I haven't been in are one of the Missoula stores and the one in Anaconda. It's definitely not the store in Helena, which has received a really nice Lifestyle remodel. It still has the old-style s...

Re: Albertsons had a deli inside Boise Savon Drugs
I lived in Boise when they tried to open a couple Sav-Ons in town. The Sav-On with the JA's Kitchen was on Bogus Basin Road in a small commercial area at the edge of town. Simplot's home was nearby and there were a few other businesses ... a Jackson's Food Store (I suspect former Circle K), a mom-an...

Re: Before and After Remodel Photos
I don't get it. They will rip down perfectly good signage and replace it with cheaper-looking signage and paint goofy pastels on walls that don't need paint ... but can't come up with a way to get Albertsons off a hanging sign.

Re: Before and After Remodel Photos
Nope, that is an Albertsons original decor package. There is a handful of stores in Boise that have that decor. The Jackson, Wyoming, store has it too. I can't remember for sure, but I think the 1,000th Albertsons store, on State Street and 36th in Boise, was built with that decor package. That stor...

Re: Before and After Remodel Photos
Save Mart seems to have decided to do a half-baked remodel to all of the stores that they bought. I can't help but wonder if they would have been better off doing a full remodel to the stores that needed it, and leaving the new stores alone. For all of the problems that Albertsons had over the past ...

The Smith's in Idaho Falls used to have a picture of Mr. Smith on the wall close to the entrance above the checkstands. It was kind of cool. That store was built somewhere in the 1989-1991 range, and I'm pretty sure the picture was there when it opened. The picture didn't survive the store's remodel...

Skippers stores in Boise close
Here's an article from The Idaho Statesman saying that the two Skippers stores in Boise are closed and the one in Nampa is under new ownership: http://www.idahostatesman.com/business/story/101060.html. Typo in the lede aside, it has some good information. It's sad to see this happen. At least in Sou...

Safeway in Lander, Wyoming, with Circle S logos
I ran into something yesterday that I wanted to share. I was in central Wyoming and saw the Safeway stores in Riverton and Lander. The Lander store still has circle S logos intact on both sides of the front of the store and also on the sign! The store is a marina that is in pretty good shape. It has...

Smith's in Riverton, Wyoming and Columbia Falls, Montana
Here are a few pictures that I took of the Smith's stores in Riverton, Wyoming and Columbia Falls, Montana. The Columbia Falls, Montana, Smith's pictures are first. This used to be a unique grocery-only Fred Meyer. After Fred Meyer bought Smith's, they turned the store over to Smith's. I'm not sure ...

More Big and Fresh pictures
Here are three pictures of the former Buttery Big Fresh, current Albertsons-Osco, in Billings, Montana, near the mall area. I took them in January. I took them with my Treo, so the quality isn't the greatest. I don't know if anything has been done to the store since then. Notice the tiny "Osco&...
