Vintage Farmer Jack Jingle (Audio!)

So, back in 2001-2002, I was in broadcasting school, and I recorded a demo tape. One of the voiceover commercials was for Farmer Jack. This is Farmer Jack's classic "It's Always Savings Time" jingle. A warning: this was an early cut, so there's a couple stumbles in the copy read... http://...

Re: H. Salt, Esq.

Are you sure they're gone from California? Granted the copyright is 7 years ago, but they have a website (of sorts) still up:

Amazingly, there's no Google Street View for there. But the satellite image clearly shows the original roofline and the pylon still intact.
Bing Maps gives a good view... Looks like a strip mall was added at some point, as well as an outlot building.

Not really disguised... but it is a Former Safeway turned Grocery Outlet!

Re: Marina Safeway in Coke commercial!

Here's a screen grab from the commercial showing the widest shot of the store... if this store was a Safeway at the time of shooting, it had extensive work done to completely de-brand the space... there aren't even any aisle hangers!

Re: What is a groceteria?

yes it is......I believe originally from the Latin language. loosely translates to "shop", "market", "place" carniceria.....meat shop zapateria....shoe shop libreria......book place etc. Latin origin, I can see, but I don't think it's spanish... the spanish term for Ma...

Re: What is a groceteria?

I presume it's a term used similarly to cafeteria versus cafe. Wherein a Cafeteria is a 'quick stop' cafe of sorts where one typically gets their own food and pays a cashier ( http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=cafeteria ). In the case of a Groceteria versus a Grocer; one would get their o...

Is this the one you speak of, on Lincoln just east of the 57? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3208/2917160523_24d1e5d3dc.jpg I suppose it's just a coincidence that those aisle markers look nearly identical to the ones Kroger used in the 1980s; roughly ten years before its empire and Ralphs' were wed...

My bad, I've been away from Southern California for so many years I forgot that "The" was a proper name prefix when referring to freeways :)

Also the Ralphs in Anaheim on Lincoln Ave had its original interior. It closed as well. 1990's Ralphs Time Capsule: Huntington Beach, CA

Went to thanksgiving dinner in Huntington Beach tonight and stumbled upon this gem... Presumably closed in 2006 -2007, and replaced with a store a couple streets down, this 70's-era store sports a well-preserved early-mid 90's interior complete with the aisle signs! Those who've known the Ralphs cha...

Re: Vons stores with old interiors

Looks like a classic Safeway 90's design, though modified for a lower ceiling (the department signs would have been arched like this): http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3155/2644638365_dff2b7c909.jpg Chances are the store would have opened with this or a similar 80's VONS package: http://farm4.static.f...

For anybody experiencing this problem, please try these steps: "...activate IE 8's Compatibility View by clicking the icon next to the address bar that looks like a broken piece of paper. This will force IE 8 to render the page like IE 7 does, which may fix this issue. IE 8 will then convenient...

Re: Target Chula Vista... Formerly...?

White Front did come to mind after I posted that. And I had a feeling Ralphs would be a good fir for the side, as I'm near positive I've seen a Ralphs in or around Orange County when I lived there with a similar canopy... The other fact is that my TomTom DOES have a listing for a Ralphs somewhere ne...
