Well, it looks to me like both of the remaining Bell Markets in San Francisco could be shutting down soon.
The Whole Foods site lists what is believed to be their Noe Valley location on their stores in development page. That store's lease ends in 2009.
The Silver Avenue location appears to be slated to become a Fresh & Easy, according to their website http://www.freshandeasy.com/whereweareM ... nFrancisco
They don't list an exact address on Silver, just an intersection, but, short of taking out a bunch of houses surrounding that Bell Market, there is no other way to get a grocery store on to that intersectiion.
I suppose it is rather speculative to even say Fresh & Easy will make it to NorCal based on what I think of the stores, though.

Re: Bell Markets in San Francisco
California/Hyde Cala?
I guess we will see... the Cala is the only location that has been remerchandised and restocked fully since they had discontinued a lot of items when the stores were set to be sold which have never shown back up at either of the Bells. Silver looked to have gotten some of those items back last time I was there, though.
Still, with the two Bells supposedly going (of course it is fairly speculative though interesting that both F&E and Whole Foods have the locations listed on their websites as stores coming soon), I have to wonder about the Cala.
In light of all this I'm surprised those two Bells are even still open.
