So many former A&P stores, very little time to find them.
I think at one point you only needed to walk a few blocks in most parts of Queens to find an A&P store. There were many "centennial" types and lookalikes as well. This is just a few examples that I know personally.

Like many former A&P stores (of all building types) in New York, this centennial became a Drug Store. It was an A&P until the early 1980's. Then it became a PATHMARK DRUG STORE and most Pathmark drug stores became Rite Aid's by the 1990's.
Side note: So many GENOVESE drug stores in New York were actually in former A&P stores and the few of those that remain are now former Eckerds converted to Rite Aid pharmacies and joining the former Pathmark drug stores under the Rite Aid banner.

This A&P was open until 1983. It was then divided and half of the store space was a MANDEE clothing store. the front facade was altered when the Mandee store opened. It's now an Asian grocery store.

Main Street near Jewel Avenue-- no longer a grocery store

This was a small A&P store open until the early 1980's. It may not have had a produce department as there was a produce market nearby. There were many small grocery stores affilated with the large chains that did not have either a meat or produce department into the early 1980's when "one stop shopping" became the norm.
I missed several known former A&P stores during my visit. Not enough time to catch them all. Maybe next trip.
