Sadly, my data ends just as things were starting to get interesting. I hope to do in-person research to complete this sometime in the next few months.

NEW; Anchorage, 1968 and 2018

This is not a great list; there is pretty much NO data online for historical Anchorage addresses and all I could find was a 1968 white pages in the bowels of the Internet Archive on a site that no longer exists. I'll flesh this out the next time I happen to be in Seattle or Anchorage, which may be a...

Somehow I missed this one and will get it added to the site shortly.

This is state number 46. Only 4 more to go and there will be at least one city covered in every US state and Canadian province!

This will probably be the last Canadian addition for a while (until I have the energy for my major Toronto update):

Re: Thoughts for the new year

DO NOT even consider shutting down the board! No plans for that now that I've gotten the bogus registrations issue under control and am no longer spending an insane amount of time deleting them! That was the big problem for a while; I'd have to delete 10-15 new spam user accounts for every one legi...

I appreciate what you do, and I think more will take interest as some chains disappear into history.
Thanks! I'm really happy to see how many of us retail nerds have come out of the woodwork in the past twenty years!

This is a quickie: http://www.groceteria.com/place/virgini ... liamsburg/

Unfortunately, there were apparently no city directories published before 1957. If I can access the phone books at some point, I'll flesh this out. It would be interesting to see how stores skirted the historic area.

Re: A&P/Eckerd Drung proposed merger, 1969

Thanks. I found an article in the Greensboro NC paper from June 1969 that states the merger talks had been discontinued. I believe you are correct about the two separate companies, though I also believe that the two different companies were eventually merged into one entity (with A&P apparently out ...

A&P/Eckerd Drung proposed merger, 1969

Anyone know anything about this (see attachments)? Clearly it didn't happen, but I'm now very curious. There doesn't seem to be anything about it in any of the assorted histories of A&P nor in Jack Eckerd's autobiography.
