This is a list of all chain grocery locations my research has uncovered in Sioux City between 1925 and 2021, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections. Please read about my methodology for more information about what I do and do not include.

Notes:
- National Tea entered the market through its purchase of Council Oak Stores in 1957. The Council Oak branding was eliminated by 1960.
- National Tea’s Sioux City division was purchased in 1972 by R-way and operated briefly as R-way National and Hy-Top Food Centers before converting to Piggly Wiggly in 1973/1974.
- Safeway abandoned the area in 1982 and two of its three stores were acquired by Fareway.
- The O.P. Skaggs franchise lasted longer in Sioux City than many other places, finally selling out in 1955 to Council Oak and Baron & Sons.
