Hagerstown Chain Grocery/Supermarket Locations, 1922-2021

This is a list of all known chain grocery addresses in Hagerstown between 1922 and 2021, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. It is generated through a live Google Spreadsheet so it reflects the latest information I have.

Notes:

  • Hagerstown is the hometown of Martin’s (later part of Giant-Carlisle). The first Martin’s supermarket is long gone, sadly.
  • Grand Union apparently entered the market through the purchase of H.L. Mills Super Market.
  • The 1958 Food Fair at 1505 Potomac was likely part of the Grand Union-owned chain based in the Washington DC rather than the larger chain.
