This is a list of all chain grocery locations my research has uncovered in New Brunswick between 1926 and 1984, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections. Please read about my methodology for more information about what I do and do not include.

Notes:
- I spent a lot of time deciphering the various centers around Milltown Road, Georges Road, and U.S.1. You’re welcome.
- Interesting trivia: The James Butler Grocery Company was a huge New York/New Jersey chain until the mid-1930s.. New Brunswick still has one original location of the chain that has been operating contiunously under the Butler name for almost a century, though it is now a convenience store unrelated to the original chain (which went bankrupt in 1937).
