This is a list of all chain grocery locations my research has uncovered in Martinsville and Collinsville between 1937 and 2025, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections.

Notes
- There apparently were no directories published between 1970 and 1995, so I’ve filled in from newspaper archives. This was no small task.
- I’m a little iffy about the Dutch Inn Plaza stores. Apparently Frank’s/Sureway Food Fair operated there at the same time as King’s Family Center, but I’m not 100% certain. Virginia Avenue was apparently also renumbered in the 1990s.
- Lowes Foods/Thrifti-Mart entered the market in 1978 with the purchase of Cooper & Ratcliff, a local chain.
- Winn-Dixie entered the market in 1960 with the purchase of George’s, an independent.
