Notes:
- The first Trader Joe’s location opened at 610 S. Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena in 1968.
- The Southern California Market Basket chain was also established in Pasadena in about 1930.
- Pasadena would be home to the final store in the HOWS chain, founded by the former owner of Hughes Markets, until its closure in 2014.
