Located just south of the Bay Area, Monterey Counties are closely related to, but a very different space from its neighbor to the north. Encompassing a coastal resort area as well as an inland agricultural zone, the development of cities in the area has been varied, though most of the major Northern California chains have had a presence in the area at some point.
