This is a list of all chain grocery locations my research has uncovered in Monterey between 1930 and 2025, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections.

• Apparently central Carmel is too adorable and precious to tolerate vulgar numbered street addresses, even to this day.
• No directories were published (or at least none that I had access to) between 1982 and 2003. I also did not have access to any newspaper archives from this period.
