This is a list of chain grocery locations my research has uncovered in suburban San Diego between 1925 and 1971, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections.

DG Market on Broadway in Chula Vista.
Piggly Wiggly on Broadway in Chula Vista?
I’m happy to see what I can find on these when I have time, but I need a little more info, like maybe a timeframe. Also, was DG Market a chain? If not, it would not be included here as I only study chains. Thanks!
DG was one of a kind. I have photos. My brother worked there.
I was more curious about PW. I was told there was one on Broadway right before they made the move out of Chula Vista to Imperial Beach.
The only thing I really found was a 1952 newspaper ad from the grand opening of a Piggly Wiggly on Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach that also lists the store at 281 3rd Avenue in Chula Vista that’s in the list above. There’s just not a lot of resources/data available for the San Diego suburbs, unfortunately.
