This is a partial and incomplete list of all chain grocery locations my research has uncovered in several Pittsburgh suburbs between 1930 and 1975, compiled from city directories, telephone books, and other sources. There may be some omissions due to incomplete or missing data, etc. and I welcome suggestions and corrections. Please read about my methodology for more information about what I do and do not include.

Notes:

• This list of towns has numerous omissions.  City directories did not cover these areas and newspaper ads of the time usually did not include store addresses. I generally do not like to post a list like this but I’m making an exception in this case.
