The building on the corner of South 8th and Butternut where the Discovery Center is now used to be a Safeway in the 1940’s. My mom was born and grew up on Sth 8th Street about 3 blocks away. While touring the Discovery Center she told me about the layout of the Safeway grocery store that was once there.
